Gabriela, It was a privilege collaborating on this interview. Thanks for your thought provoking questions.

Re-reading my comments it occurred to me that colleagues Victoria Axelrod, Bill Anderson and I convened a "Facebook Groups in Business Investigation" (FGIBI) in 2007 that also provided learning that fuels my workshop: http://bit.ly/9U7k6z

A remarkable group of leading edge Facebook Group owners across 4 continents trusted us enough to share each of their group's activity data for a quarter: Jenni Beattie, Ray Cha, Dave Duarte, Eric Edelstein, Francois Gossieaux, Adam Kovitz, Niki Lambropoulos, Kimberly Samaha

We distributed our findings through presentations including this TheAppGap webinar http://slidesha.re/c3pfwB and in an article, "Placing Faces on Knowledge" published in Inside Knowledge Magazine. http://bit.ly/199i6K

The article was informed by additional research, including an interview with Kyle Arteage of Serena Software about his company's pioneering use of a Facebook Group to replace their Intranet. Andrew McAfee covers Serena's initiative in his "Enterprise 2.0" book (pages 84-85 & 182-183.)

Not surprizingly our Facebook Groups in Business Investigation found that:

"Organisation leaders must acknowledge the explicit social nature of their own work culture. Organisations that can facilitate trusted relationships among employees and their customers will be ahead in a business world where online and offline networks are a key to business success."

(Ambrozek, Axelrod & Anderson 2008 "Placing Faces on Knowledge", p30 Inside Knowledge Magazine, September)

Dear Gabriela
remember, we met in Brussels at an evaluation exercise (I'm the half Irish/German living in Holland). I am in Ireland at the moment with my family and we will be going to Limerick for the weekend. Was wondering if you are around then - but from your blog I gather you're off to Germany? If you happen to have time and are still in Limerick mail me and we could go for a walk or whatever

Thanks a million for the advice!Sorry I won't be around when you come over - it'd been nice to meet for coffee!
About cycling from Siegen to Chemnitz - I escaped a fine back in 2003 when walking on the left side of the Autobahn with my brand-new bike, and I promised the German police I won't be caught doing this again - ever!
Unfortunately, I won't get anywhere close to Chemnitz this time! But next time, who knows?!

I guess with your cheap bike you won't be able to make it to the "nice place" where I am studying (about 421 km away from Siegen - if you take the right Autobahn ;)). We have the world's largest Karl Marx Head. What more could one want? ;)

Anyway, don't bring too many thick sweaters and leave your rubber boots at home! All indications are that it continues to be a hot summer in Germany for the next weeks. :)
